Nicole McIntyre

 

From foundations of performance training for theatre, and contemporary music Nicole McIntyre has been performing with some of Australia’s most highly regarded musicians since 1993.

 

Her career went international when engaged to work as a backing vocalist for Australia’s own worldwide pop sensation ‘Savage Garden’ on their wildly successful 

‘Garden of Earthly Delights’ live promotional & concert tours, in 1997 and 1998.

After touring with Savage Garden Nicole embarked on her own simple journey into song-craft and studying theatre once again.
In 2001 she travelled to the Bristol UK where she lived for seven years teaching voice and working with various musicians on original material and jazz projects.

 

Returning to Australian shores again in 2007
Nicole spent time with family in Brisbane until moving to Hobart in 2012 to formalize her experience into a ‘degree’ and embarked on an in-depth journey into song craft; studying a B/Mus-majoring in Songwriting at UTAS Conservatorium of Music.

 

Nicole’s song-craft odessy is yielding unexpected results in a variety of genres and styles. With ever evolving new material in a solo capacity.


A versatile and dexterous singer, Nicole also loves to indulges her deep passion for old Blues and Southern Funk,

with local band of music heroes: 

MumboGumbowith whom she cooks up hot versions of tracks from the likes of Etta James, Professor Longhair, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, Renee Geyer, Lucky Petersen &Tedeschi Trucks etc.

Nicole performs live, with various jazz ensembles.

Nicole continues to teach singing and vocal mechanics in Hobart, both on a one to one basis and in group workshops,

and also offers songwriting and creativity workshops.

The recent 2 album offering from Nicole's original gypsy/folk band:

Guerilla Zingari, whom, with two full albums over the past three years achieved national airplay on ABC’s Radio National with Robbie Buck and on triple J’s “Roots n All” with Sarah Howels; conducted as successful 14 date national promotional tour in 2013-14 and played at Woodford Folk festival in the summer of 2014-15 and successive years at Cygnet Folk Festival, Huon Valley Mid Winter Fest and many others. 

 

Nicole works contractually as Creative Director for the Huon Valley Mid Winter Festival’s Welcome Event and also lead the vocal chant on Dark Mofo’s “Burning” event in 2015, and performed in the “Reckless Women” show at the Voice Box for Festival of Voices 2015.
